Amazon.com Product Description
Experience the thrill and terror all over again with Resident Evil 5 Collector’s Edition for Xbox 360. Featuring Chris Redfield of the original Resident Evil and Sheva Alomar, a West African agent of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), this sci-fi survival game is staged in a remote desert colony packed with hordes of fast-moving, quick-thinking enemies that represent a whole new breed of evil.

Cooperative game play options let you take teamwork to a new level. View larger.

Dramatic graphics and lighting effects add a realistic edge to your mission. View larger.

Move through vast environments that have a discernable impact on game play. View larger.

You’ll face faster enemies backed by improved AI. View larger. Meet Two Fierce, Playable Main Characters
Back from the original title and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, former S.T.A.R.S. special forces team member Redfield is a battle-tested, founding member of the BSAA. With a reputation for superior marksmanship and phenomenal hand-to-hand combat abilities, he’s on the ground and up against a new strain of evil.

You’ll call his shots from the same over-the-shoulder third person viewpoint that distinguished Resident Evil 4, except this time you’ll also have the option of playing as his teammate, the fierce, local Alomar. Whoever you play as, updates to the earlier version’s third-person control scheme offer more options and promise intuitive interactions.

Learn to Work Together
The new cooperative game play element focuses on the realities of a dual-agent mission, highlighting the ways in which Redfield and Alomar must work together to survive the unexpected, while still allowing them to split up and work alone. To help you maximize the potential of this setup, two-player online and offline co-op modes ensure that you have options when picking a partner.

Steel yourself Against the Harsh Reality of Kijuju
An advanced version of Capcom’s proprietary MT Framework game engine brings groundbreaking graphics and effects to Kijuju, the highly-developed environment where this game’s action takes place. New, lifelike lighting schemes highlight the differences between harsh sunlight and extreme darkness, and when you move from one to the other, you’ll have to wait for your character’s eyes to adjust before you can see clearly, adding to the suspense and challenge of navigating this game’s environs.

Face the Next Generation of Evil
You’ll face new enemies with faster reflexes and improved AI, designed to be as dangerous alone as they are in groups and to keep even Resident Evil masters on their toes. Thankfully, they’re not the only ones who have evolved. This game also offers access to powerful new weapons variations that extend your destructive capabilities.

And the updated, quick-select inventory system allows for real-time inventory management, as well as allowing characters to trade items and allowing you to place an item on the directional pad for instant access. Add all this to a detailed storyline the touches on what the past ten years have meant for Redfield and a Hollywood-caliber soundtrack, and it’s clear that the latest installment in this series really does showcase all the elements at the heart of horror gaming.

This special collector’s edition of Resident Evil 5 also includes:

  • A bonus disc with special features, including “The Making of Resident Evil 5,” a digital art gallery showcasing HD game graphics, and a trailer for the full-length feature Resident Evil: Degeneration
  • A Tricell messenger bag featuring designs based on the game’s storyline and setting
  • A Chris Redfield figurine, a BSAA patch, and a Kijuju-inspired pendant
  • A custom-made steel case with special art showcasing signature elements of the RE5 campaign

    Collector’s Edition collector-ness,

    Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

    <Minor spoilers ahead>

Ok, me and a friend went to the midnight Gamestop opening to get the game, and we are on Chapter 3-3 I think. I started playing this game at about 1:15am, until 6:58am, and haven’t slept yet. (I’m writing this review at work, heh.)

The game itself is very fun, especially with a friend. I must say I do not like the new inventory system, and I miss the creepy mysterious vendor that sold you goods in RE4, I felt that added more realism to the game, rather than the way you buy items in RE5, at the end of every stage, it seems very artificial, and kind of takes you away from the immersion of the game.

The game is definitely more action oriented, which makes sense when playing co-op, but I hope to see some wierd puzzles in the later levels.
I’ll say that this Resident Evil is the most “Un-resident Evil” out of all of them, at least from what I have seen so far. The gameplay is still great, but most of the new additions and changes have detracted from what makes Resident Evil so cool and unique, and feels more like a generic shooter/action game. (The gatling gun/motorcycle thing. It’s fun and all, but to me it just doesn’t fit the Resident Evil vibe of previous games.) I do like the end of chapter stats though, that is cool.

This next part refers to the bonus stuff that comes with the Collector’s Edition. I’ll say first off that it honestly is not worth the $30 extra dollars I paid for it. I’m such a huge fan of the games though, that I bought it mainly just to support Capcom, and because of the cool looking metal case and bonus DVD. The action figure is pathetic, looks like a cheap GI Joe toy, except you can’t even move the arms or legs, it’s just cheap, badly painted plastic that is just stupid, and it doesn’t even look like Chris Redfield.

The Tricel carry bag I thought I would use it to carry maybe books or some papers for whatever, but again, it’s just a cheap poorly made canvas bag. I haven’t even taken it out of the plastic wrapper since I don’t want to waste my time with it.

The necklace is the same, fake looking pleather string with the Kijuju Africa symbol on it, I’ll never wear it, it’s still wrapped in it’s plastic wrapper too.

The BSAA security patch, which I thought would be the dumbest item, turns out is actually the coolest to me. I might actually have to sew this on a denim jacket one day, it’s actually a semi high quality material, and looks pretty official looking. I can at least pretend I’m Chris Redfield on a secret mission then.

    Good, but not Great,

    Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

I agree with the other reviewers here. Ever sinec playing RE4 I fell in love with it; and while RE5 is still a great game, it does not live up to RE4.

    Pro’s:
    Graphics are amazing
Utilizing co-op with a friend is great
Gameplay is very similar to RE4, and wiht a little practice it just as easy a switch from Gamecube to Xbox 360
Great story line, that while predictable was still enjoyable

    Con’s
They did away with the vender/seller which I think we all miss
They made the suitcase a fixed, and small, size which can get annoying
There was absolutely no point in getting the collectors addition as it gave me nothing I wanted (the bag/neglace/patch/figure/dvd) was all of poor quality and the bonus DVD did not even give any skins for the xbox menu which I was looking forward to for what I paied
And this may be of little concern to most, but I was actually hoping for some cheats after I beat the game, but there are none that I can find on-line.

Overall Great game but not as great as I hoped…

Game is great, but the extras are a little overpriced.,

    Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

I bought the Collector’s Edition because I’m a fan of the series. It comes with a messenger bag, a very small Chris figure, a BSAA patch, an Africa necklace, and a bonus DVD. The game also comes in a very beautiful metal case. RE5, the game, is excellent and well worth $60, but the real question for this version is “Is it worth the extra $30 for the other stuff?”. For some it may be, below is my opinion of the included items.

The included DVD has some nice extras, but nothing too major. The trailer is definitely not a selling point.

The Chris Redfield figure is about 2″ tall and fairly detailed given its size.

The BSAA patch is identical to the one Chris wears on his shoulder in the game and is good quality.

The necklace is kind of bland. The writing on it really just looks like scribbles and most people who see it will wonder why you’re wearing an Africa necklace (especially if you’re as white as me).

The Tricell bag is the highlight. It is nice enough quality to actually use and is standard size. I walk to work and am using it to carry a few documents and my lunch. There are no pockets on the inside and the design is pretty simple, just the tricell decal and logo on the front, but it looks alright.

As I’ve already stated the metal case the game comes in is beautiful and a vast improvement on the standard plastic case.

The only reason I don’t rate this higher is because for the extra money, $30, you could buy another, budget title, 360 game. If you’re a really big fan of all things Resident Evil, or want to use/display the items it comes with it might still be worth the extra.

    Again, the game is awesome!
